Mustang AAU Volleyball

So in the last year AAU volleyball has really started to take off here in small town Iowa.  For the 2012 AAU Volleyball season our George-Little Rock school system had four teams, a fifth grade team (joined by one fourth grader) a sixth grade team, a seventh grade team and an 8th grade team.  All of our teams were successfull in their individual efforts.  The 7th and 8th grade teams had a little bit harder time due to the fact that they started volleyball later than other schools.  Our 5th grade team qualified for state and participated in the state tournament.  At state they placed high enough in pool play to qualify for the gold bracket (above the silver and bronze brackets) and that was despite an injured setter which completely changed all of their usual rotations.

The 5th grade team was also invited to a regional competition in Minneapolis, MN but we declined the invite.  Our fundraising efforts only managed to cover the state trip.

The 6th grade team placed 2nd in one of their tournaments.  They were quite successful as well.

The 7th grade team reached the semi-finals in a few of their tournaments and were just points away from qualifying for state.

The 8th grade team has amazing potential and will be amazing next year in highschool.

We look forward to next years tournaments!  Stay tuned for more information on the off season.  Any volleyball camps/tournments and fundraising information for the 2013 season.
